Food Service Specialist
First, as a soldier I perform as a member of a fire team during drills and live combat in support for the Infantry perform hand-to-hand combat aid in the mobilization of vehicles, troops and weaponry assist in reconnaissance missions operate two-way radios and signal equipment process prisoners of war and captured documents learn to use, maintain and store various combat weaponry (rifles, machine guns and anti-tank mines.) In addition, trained in water rescue missions and have basic knowledge of First Responder. Second, as a Food Service Specialist, perform preliminary food preparation procedures performing specific cooking methods as prescribed by Army recipes setting up serving lines, garnishing food items and applying food protection and sanitation measures in field and garrison environments receiving and storing subsistence items performing general housekeeping duties operating, maintaining and cleaning field kitchen equipment erecting, striking and storing all types of field kitchens performing preventive maintenance on garrison and field kitchen equipment. Ordering, receiving and inspecting meat, fish, fruit and vegetables. Preparing standard cuts of meat using cleavers, knives and band saws cooking steaks, chops and roasts baking or frying chicken, turkey and fish preparing gravies and sauces. Baking breads, cakes, pies and pastries. Cleaning ovens, stoves, mixers, pots and utensils. All the above was conducted usually on Friday thru Sunday once a month and 2 or 3 weeks a year for annual training.
