The highlight of my Military service is one in which I got to experience first hand something greater than myself. I was only Active for three years but what I experienced in those three years will only make me stronger moving forward in my new career. The biggest experience of my service came when we returned from our year long deployment to Baghdad in support of Operation New Dawn.
I graduated high school in 2000 then moved on to Upper Iowa University where I majored in physical education and athletic coaching. I graduated from there in 2005. I then taught/coached until 2009 (my enlistment). When I deployed to Baghdad I took advantage of the Army's TA and started my masters degree in special education. Since my honorable discharge I have taught and coached since my return to the civilian side (2012) .
Military Experiences
Apr 2010 - Sep 2012
During my time here I was a generator mechanic as well as a wheeled vehicle mechanic. I was in this position through our deployment to Baghdad (Iraq) in support of Operation New Dawn. Upon our return home I was assigned to the company's orderly room where I worked with the Commander/First Sergeant in assisting them on completing documents/gathering information that needed to be presented to battalion.
