Generator Mechanic
Supported the mechanized grunts, they had M113's and were transitioning to Bradley's as I left country. As a generator mechanic it was mainly keeping the small 1.5 - 10K generators running to charge the batteries on the trac vehicles, run lights and radio's for the TOC's, and keep the coffee pots cooking coffee. We spent the summers up at Warrior Base at the DMZ and the winters in the field since that was the best time to drive the trac's on the frozen rice patties. Had many a drunken night in TongDuChon partying with my buddies.

Generator Mechanic
52D10, Generator mechanic for the 595th Medical Company. We were basically a M.A.S.H. unit. I went TDY the summer of 1988 to West Point. We linked up with the 514th Ambulance Company from Ft. Devens and a unit from Ft. Campbell Kentucky, i think they were the 326th. Our medic's did their best to keep the plebes healthy while they went through their basic training. We stayed offsite at Stewart Army Subpost, which we shared with the Air Force. They flew C5 Galaxy's out of there. Amazing to watch them take off and land.

KKMC - King Kahlid's Military City
As a reservist, deployed to Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Storm. Spent a couple of weeks at Khobar Towers, then went out to KKMC which is near the town of Al Batin, near the north-eastern border of Saudia Arabia. We were assigned to the 164th Maintenance Company out of Los Alamitos, CA. They had gone home and we reconstituted the unit.
