Bio
I spent 5.5 years in the Navy and then another 5 years as a Navy wife. Not sure which was tougher, but loved both. I worked 20+ years as a professional photographer before recently finishing college. I now have a BS in Professional Writing. Thank you Montgomery GI bill and the State of Texas.
I have 20+ years experience as a photographer, 3 years experience as a company representative in marketing and am looking to begin a career in professional writing (technical, proposal, copy-writng, media, creative writing. web writing). I'm looking for a company that needs a mature person that can learn their needs and work with them for 15 to 20 years.
Deployments
(10 years) 1995 - 1997
Guantanamo Bay, Cuba
Navy wife duty, short term MWR employee and then civilian base photographer. Igi's are cool and very photogenic. Banana rats are not. Husband, ET1 Thornburg, left the service at the end of his enlistment here.
1991 - 1995
NAVSTA Belle Chase, LA
Navy wife duty and local photographer. I spent an extra year here due to the Cuban exodus in 1994.
1989 - 1991
NAVSTA Puget Sound, WA
Beautiful base; I wish I still lived there. I worked in admin before MWR stole me to run their marketing room. I worked the evacuation of personnel from the Phillipines during that time. I was a marked woman here. MWR wanted me more than the Navy. I left the service at the end of this deployment.
1987 - 1989
NAVSTA Brooklyn New York
It wasn't a ship yard any more by the time I got there. If you were on a ship and received movies, between 1987 and 1989, I sent them to you. I also worked with MWR.
