Bio
I moved back to Wyoming after separation, started working at our family business as a truck driver. 5 years later I am running my own plant 25 miles from home. I think what was the toughest was losing the comradery of the brothers I had on board ship. It took me a few years to get used to the civilian way of doing things. Left a lot to be desired, unfortunately.
Military Experiences
Sep 2004 - Nov 2008
Machinist's Mate (Auxiliary) (MMA)
Worked in the "Outside Machine Shop, 38C", made repairs and conducted maintenance on several Trident Missile Submarines home ported there. Was a lead mechanic for 3 years of that. Also volunteered for the Honor Guard, and was "selected"(haha) for Auxiliary Security Force.
Mar 1999 - Aug 2004
Machinist's Mate (Auxiliary) (MMA)
Battle Stations Helmsman/Maneuvering Watch Lookout. Aux Forward/Machinery Room Watch, Diesel Technician. Loved every minute of getting dirty. Ships Qualification Petty Officer, Ships Damage Control Assistant Petty Officer, Division Repair Parts Petty Officer.
Deployments
(7 months)Mar 1999 - Sep 1999
Kosovo
Was my first underway/deployment. Spent the first 44 days not seeing the sun. Launched 10 Tomahawk Cruise Missiles into Yugoslavia. 10 launched 10 hits, earned us the tag "Sure Shooters" from the 6th Fleet Admiral. Unfortunately it was the only deployment I made. Spent 22 months in Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and transferred shortly after leaving.
