Prepares, assists, and fired M163A1 Vulcan antiaircraft gun; operates and performs operator maintenance on wheeled and tracked vehicles and fire control units; handles ammunition; assists in the emplacement and displacement of the weapons system; assists in performance of routine maintenance. As a member of A Btry 5th Bn 62nd ADA, Ft. Bliss Texas in the late-summer of 1990 during live-fire squad qualifications at Mc Gregor Range as the senior gunner in the M162A2 20mm Vulcan Self-Propelled weapon system, shot down 5 of the 7 aerial targets (RCMAT) assigned to the batallion that year and was named "Top Gun", however due to the Persian Gulf incident in August 2, 1990 the corresponding award was never given. Our squad was placed in the top qualifiers that year.

Supervised enlisted personnel in office. Compiled, analyzed, and submitted Battalion Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Equipment Readiness Report to BMO OIC, Chiefs, Bn SGM, and Bn Commander. Conducted scheduled and unscheduled equipment inspection through the Battalion for compliance with set regulations and policies. When needed, briefed Bn Commander, BMO OIC, and Chiefs concerning state of Bn readiness.

SHORAD Gunnery Crewmember (16R1O)
Prepares and assists in firing M163A1 Vulcan antiaircraft gun; operates and performs operator maintenance on wheeled and tracked vehicles and fire control units; handles ammunition; assists in the emplacement and displacement of the weapons system; assists in performance of routine maintenance. As a member of C Btry 2Bn 59th ADA in Schwabach, West Germany was awarded the Army Achievement Medal in the hard winter of 1988, as a member of the HQ squad of the 2nd platoon in the company of my squad leader we where assigned the task of re-supplying ammo to the battery in our 5 Ton Truck with Trailer from the field depot located about 20 miles away. After the weather turned into a white-out blizzard, we were the only truck that finished the mission in very difficult circumstances.
