Bio
Just a Florida boy who ran off and joined the military. Volunteered for everything offered, been around the world a few times, learned to jump out of airplanes, blow things up, fix radios, and patch up broken soldiers. I'm now a retired GI, having a great life, married to a great wife, and looking for that next great adventure. Lead, follow, or get out of the way, AIRBORNE!!
Military Experiences
1998 - 1999
First Sergeant
Responsible for the health, morale, welfare and discipline of the enlisted members assigned to the 33d CCS. I started my career in the 2nd Combat Comm at Patrick AFB, and what better way to finish then to be the "Shirt" in Combat Comm. Best bunch of people on this planet.
1997 - 1998
First Sergeant
Responsible for the health, morale, welfare and discipline of the enlisted members assigned to the 349th Recruiting Squadron. Can you say "Road Warrior"? The 349th covers most of Oklahoma, 2/3 of Kansas, and 1/2 of Missouri.
1993 - 1997
First Sergeant
Responsible for the health, morale, welfare and discipline of the enlisted members assigned to the 333rd Technical Training Squadron. This squadron was the largest training squadron on Keesler AFB (1000+ enlisted) when they assigned me as the "Shirt".
Deployments
(1 year, 9 months)Jul 1996 - Oct 1996
Saudi Arabia
What did I do??? Set up Eskan Village so that flying ops support could move out of Riyadh after the Khobar Tower bombing. Well, I didn't do it by myself, but had an awesome team that made the commander and I look good.
Feb 1982 - Aug 1982
Quonset Point, RI
MSgt Randy Rule and I setup a mobile control tower in the middle of the airfield so the FAA could upgrade the fixed tower with a prefab Faa cab. A lightning strike took out the antenna mast, so I had AB 155U masts, VHF and UHF antennas flown in to keep ATC operations going. This was one of the best TDYs I'd ever been on.
May 1980 - Aug 1980
Volk Field, WI
What started out to be RAPCON support for the Air Guard's 2 week ATC refresher training, turned into Cuban Refugee Airlift support. Also got invited to join the Guard, but turned it down, too cold for this Florida boy.
Jul 1979 - Dec 1979
Marana Air Park, AZ
Set up ATC tower and TACAN operations on an old military runway to support A-10 transition flying.
