Bio 

Major (MAJ) Ella Valentino Ellis was born in The Woodlands, Texas. He was commissioned as an Air Defense Artillery Officer in 2013, from the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, New York. Prior to attending the Air Defense Artillery (ADA) Basic Officer Leadership Course (BOLC), MAJ Ellis served as an Athletic Intern for the USMA Men’s Basketball team in the USMA Active Duty Accession Detachment. After completing ADA BOLC, MAJ Ellis went on to be the Executive Officer for Headquarters and Headquarters’ Battery (HHB), 30th ADA Brigade (BDE), Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Following his tenure with 30th ADA BDE, he deployed in support of (ISO) “Operation Enduring Freedom” and “Operation Spartan Shield” to the country of United Arab Emirates, where he served as a Platoon Leader, Tactical Control Officer and an Executive Officer for Charlie Battery (C BTRY), 3-2 ADA Battalion (BN), of the 31st ADA BDE. Upon redeployment, he continued his service as the Executive Officer for C BTRY, 3-2 ADA BN at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. MAJ Ellis attended Air Defense Artillery Captains Career Course (ADA CCC) at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in May of 2017 and graduated in October of 2017. After his successful completion of ADA CCC, MAJ Ellis was assigned to 1-62 ADA BN where he served as the Assistant S3 and as the Commander for D BTRY, 1-62 ADA BN where he also deployed to Kuwait and Jordan ISO “Operation Enduring Freedom” and “Operation Spartan Shield”. He was further selected for a second command as the Commander of HHB, 69th ADA BDE. MAJ Ellis was nominated for and broadened as the Lieutenant’s and Junior Captain’s Career Manager for the Air Defense Branch at the U.S. Army Human Resources Command (HRC), Officer Personnel Management Directorate (OPMD). He later promoted to MAJ in July 2021 joining the class of 2011 and was selected as the Executive Officer dual-hatted as the Secretary of the General Staff for the HRC Commanding General. MAJ Ellis is now currently assigned to the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC), Fort Leavenworth, Kansas as a student attending resident Army Intermediate Level Education (ILE). MAJ Ellis graduated from the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point in 2013, with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology. His military education includes the Air Defense Basic Officer Course, Combatives Level 1 Course, Combat Life Savers Course, Commanders Safety Course, Air Defense Captains Career Course and Digital Training Management System. MAJ Ellis’ awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon (1 OLC).
