Monitored intelligence and political developments related to hostages, providing updates and policy recommendations to the NSC leadership and the President. Coordinated and monitored interagency response to high visibility hostage cases. Managed interagency process to develop Presidential Policy Directive on CT and Deputies-level process to analyze critical CT policy and strategy issues. Served as NSC focal point for interagency efforts to counter the proliferation of man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS). Provided input to policy and strategy deliberations on the full scope of CT issues.
