Bio

Appalachian young man from Ohio, joined the Navy at 17 under the early entry program. Attended recruit training in Great Lakes, Illinois (Company 205 SWC Martain). Brother's duty at Assault Craft Unit One, Coronado, CA. No "A" school so I eventually became a SK striker. 4 years at ACU-1, I re-enlisted as an SK2 (E5). 3 year assignment at Naval Security Group Rota, Spain, I was an SK1 (E6) for my next assignment, the USS Valdez (FF1096) better known as the USS Neverdock! When my enlistment expired I left active duty to use my GI Bill to attend school. Started working as a WG-4 Warehouseman for the Navy Public Works Center in San Diego while attending school. Through an upward mobility program at PWCSD I became a GS5/7 Budget Analyst. Promoted to GS 9/11, then a couple years later after getting a Business Degree in Computer Information Systems, I was promoted to a GS12 Internal Auditor program management position. I had also rejoined the Navy in the Naval Reserve as an SK1. I was promoted to SKC and subsequently selected for SKCS when I was accepted into the Limited Duty Officer (LDO) program as a Supply Corps Officer. In my civilian career I was selected for a GS-510-13 Accounting Officer position with the Naval Facilities Engineering Command and 8 years later, an executive position as a GS-510-14/15 Financial Manager. In the Naval Reserves I had assignments with the Naval Supply Center as the Training Officer, Production Officer and Administrative Officer. Once promoted to LT, I was assigned as the Supply Officer for Fleet Deception Group at the Amphibious Base Coronado. As a LCDR I was assigned to Expeditionary Logistic Support Force BLSS as the Executive Officer then subsequently as the Commanding Officer. As a CDR I was assigned first to NavSea Port Hueneme as the Logistics Officer, then Executive Officer of DFAS Columbus and finally as the Executive Officer of DFAS Cleveland. I retired both from the Naval Reserve and my civilian Navy job in 2007. I was sent for a Masters Degree at the University of Redlands by while working for the Civil Service.
