The student will be able to use email; launch and use specific software as task requires; create, modify and maintain documents, spreadsheets, and PowerPoints; use the Internet effectively for email, commerce, and research; calculate earnings for employees; apply internal control procedures for payroll transactions; prepare external reports; explain journal payroll transactions; enter data into payroll databases; and audit financial returns. Led a team of 21 personnel in the Personnel Office, overseeing support for 860 personnel in all aspects of military pay and allowances, travel pay, and personnel record maintenance. Audited all station allowances for over 900 Sailors. Administratively prepared the vessel for its first deployment in over 14 years, including verification of all personnel records, emergency data, and life insurance. Also, managed the transfer of 390 Sailors to a sister command ship within one month. Served as the DTS Travel and Military Pay Leading Chief Petty Officer, implementing changes to auditing and tracking methods to improve the timeliness and accuracy of travel per diem settlements.
