Probably greatest honor I achieved in my military career was being selected to sail from Panama City to the Darian province in Columbia to deliver Christmas presents for local natives.
SPEC-4 promoted to Spec 5 Nov 66. Wrote and reviewed operational procedures for DPU.
Honor Sgt during Panamanian Anti-American protest. Relieved of duty when 3 armed personnel crossed bay in a boat. I was armed with a 12 gauge shot gun WITH NO AMMO AND NO FIELD RADIO.
Volunteered for Viet Nam 3 times before being selected.
