I am a veteran of the Vietnam Era (1972 - 1974). I was drafted into the service on 26 June 1972, to serve a 2 year hitch. Served 1 year and 9 months with a 3 month early out to serve in the Active Reserves, 364th General Hospital in Albany, NY.

Ambulance Driver/Medical Corpsmen
To drive one of the Ambulances from the Emergency Room to any and all medical emergencies of military and civilian personnel in and around Fort Polk, Louisiana. And when necessary, transporting patients to other medical facilities anywhere in the state of Louisiana and eastern Texas (Houston).
Also to assist Doctors, nurses and other medical specialists with the treatment of sick or injured military and civilian personnel who were brought into the emergency room to be treated.

Basic Combat Medic
Basic Combat Medical Corpsman training. At this time, Fort Sam and Brook Army Medical Center were the premier medical training facilities during the Vietnam War.

Truck Driver Training
Training in the operation of the M35, 2 1/2 ton, 1 1/2 ton truck and Ambulance, 1/4 ton Jeep in tactical and garrison operations. Including how to load, unload, and transport sick and/or injured soldiers from the field to a base hospital.
