Bio

From Corpus Christi Tx and Entered USAF 1979 wanting a electronic career field but was given a electrical career instead. First AFSC 54150G, LGM30 Missile Facilities Specialist Minuteman III. ATC base of training was Chanute AFB Tech School. I served 3 years on the Preventive Maintenance Team where technical task performance was limited to one of 3 areas (power production, environmental control and electrical systems) at Minot ND. After 3 years, I wanted to challenge myself in the electronics field and I searched for other career fields with heavy electronics. Precision Measurement was my choice, but it would have taken another year of waiting at Minot so I chose to cross train into 32654A F/FB F111 Avionics Test Station and Component Specialist in 1983. ATC base of training, Lowry AFB, Denver Colorado. After Tech School , I chose to be assigned to Cannon AFB then later the United Kingdom. Specialized in the AN/APQ-113 attack radar and the AN/APQ-110 terrain-following radar. After 3 years of Avionics and becoming a Speicalist Craftsman, I Left the USAF in 1986 and headed to Fort Worth Tx, Dream was to work for General Dynamics. The dream opportunity closed in on me due to a back injury. I joined the USAF Reserve 301 CAM Sq. F4 Weapons Mechanic. ATC school was in Lowry AFB, Denver Colorado. AS a wepons mechanic , I repaired the F-4D model Fire Weapons Control delivery system. The Radar system basically a television camera with a zoom lens to aid in positive identification, and a system called Pave Tack, which provided day and night all-weather capability to acquire, track and designate ground targets for laser, infrared and electro-optically guided weapons. AFSC 46230 (32131G) at Carswell AFB, Tx. Lived in Ft Worth for 2 years and came back into Active duty USAF in 1988 and returned to Cannon AFB. Later Toured in RAF Lakenheath where I served for 3 years on F-111F. INS system. During the Operation Desert Storm Shield Oct 1990-24 February 1991, I help maintain and repair Inertial Navigation and Terrain Following Radar Systems Line replaceable units during the wing's F-111Fs thousands of sorties, unleashing precision-guided and unguided munitions on Iraqi armor, artillery, bridges, military airfields and command and control centers. The Inertial navigation system (INS) was my speciality. Basically the INS was a self-contained navigation technique in which measurements provided by accelerometers and gyroscopes are used to track the position and orientation of an object relative to a known starting point, orientation and velocity. After the operation, all the F-111 were being retired and replaced and the F-15 was to be my next AFSC. Again, I chose to challange myself so I picked a scientific career field. I chose the USAF Bioenvironmental ENG 4B0X1 (90730) AFSC. ATC school was Brooks AFB, San Antonio Tx. After graduation, I chose to be at Kirtland AFB. Received TSGT at 15 years and decided to retire at CY2000. this career field and later receiving 3 associate degree and 1 undergrad BS in Environmental Science let to me becoming an Industrial Hygieinst for the VHA.
