oin me in congratulating Thomas Collins on his retirement from federal service on January 31, 2020. Tom’s retirement culminates a distinguished career in public service, which includes serving almost 10 years as the Planning and Support Director for the Mid-Atlantic Region in Philadelphia. Prior to that position, Tom completed a distinguished military and civilian career in the U.S. Army and the Department of Defense. Tom served our country for over 40 years!
Tom led army units including an infantry platoon and armor company, and served as a battalion and brigade commander. He earned the Green Beret as a Special Forces Captain in 1985. He served in Germany, Haiti, Honduras, Lithuania, Kuwait, and Iraq.
Tom’s final duties included commanding an international Joint Task Force in Kuwait and Iraq and serving as the deputy director of the Army Strategic Planning Board in the Pentagon. Tom graduated from LaSalle University where he studied political science. He earned his master’s degrees in government from the University of Pennsylvania and strategic studies from the Army War College. Tom’s numerous awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and the Superior Civilian Service Award.

Tom and his wife Gerrie have been married for 42 years and have six children. They are active members of their church and have devoted over 35 years to presenting Pre-Cana marriage preparation to couples planning to wed.
