Radioman
After boot camp in Orlando I was in A school in Norfolk for communications. Assigned to NAS Beeville, Texas in early ‘71. Requested brother duty on the Mount Vernon and joined the ship in early 73. Completed a westpac tour in mid ‘74 and discharged in July 1974. Incredible experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything. Joined at 17 and out at 21…grew up fast.

Western Pacific
First 3 months I was on the ship with my brother Rob. I was an RM and I believe the major accomplishment, of this outing, was surviving 25+ foot seas from Typhoon Nora. We had 30 marines onboard and it was a rough 24 hours for sure.
