Military Experiences
1969 - Jun 1970
Radio Group overmanned
I asked to go to Vietnam a few times out of shear boredom, but was ignored. However I did make my 3rd stripe in minimum time in grade.
I had just 2 assignments. 1. On base installing multi-couplers in the Receiver Site. I was the only one there at the time but the "Team" got an accommodation for figuring out my way to run cables 10 times as fast. Also, this is not on the record but on the top of a bad multi-coupler a big label read "NOT SITE REPAIRABLE" I repaired it. I just seemed to know what to do. Later I had a job at Camp O'Donnell , the former POW camp for survivors of the "Bataan Death March". O'Donnell had been changed into the largest transmitter site outside the CONUS. In the States the identical rigid coaxial cable (big copper pipes) .... more.
Deployments

First it was to maintain all base communication transmitters except those mounted on the control tower. The base commander's transceiver was there too.
Then I got bored and was moved to the Receiver - Control Site where the 13 radio operators were.
There i learned EXACTLY what I was maintaining. It included the last code scrambler for Nuclear
