Military Experiences
Oct 1981 - Aug 1984
Auto Piliot Mechanic
I worked on F-111, A-10, and F-4 Aircraft at the US Air Force Repair Depot at McClellan Air Force Base, McClellan, California. I was in the 406 CLSS. Most of the work we did was to pull the black boxes out of aircraft that were being overhauled. Many of these aircraft were assigned to the US Air Force Reserve or Air National Guard units around the US and elsewhere.
Jul 1979 - Jun 1981
Battalion Motor Sergeant
I was the lead Mechanic, Battalion Motor Sergeant. I was responsible for maintaining 300 Vehicles which included 1/4 Ton Jeeps M151 A1 and M151A2, Gama Goats, M35A2 2.5 Ton Trucks, and a M818 5 Ton Wrecker, an assortment of trailers, cargo and generator mounted, a Steam Cleaner. I scheduled quarterly Maintenance, preformed inspections, directed junior grade mechanics on performance of repairs, scheduled training on a weekly basis.
Sep 1978 - Jul 1979
Assistant Lead Vehicle Mechanic
I did a lot of driving of vehicles to and from the Repair shop which were operated by the German Nationals. WE did some limited maintenance and repairs but most other repairs were accomplished by the German Workers. I drove the Fuel truck to supply fuel for our vehicles, generators, and other equipment. I worked directly with the Germans to expedite repairs and maintenance of our vehicles and equipment in order to limit the down time.
Oct 1977 - Sep 1978
Motor Coordinator
I scheduled members of our Unit for Driver's Training, including European Sign training, Scheduling Driver training and issuing Military driver licenses to as many soldiers as possible.
