Instructor Loadmaster
Trained loadmasters on C-130’s both in classroom and in-flight. Students received training in Aerial Delivery of both cargo and personnel, safety procedures, parachute rigging and rolling stock preparation for air drop. Weight and balance of cargo placement within the aircraft, proper tie down techniques and in-flight safety procedures. Received practical experience from two tours in Vietnam 1966-68, made many air drops during battle of Khe Sanh which resulted in 3 gear-up crash landings due to heavy ground fire. I flew over 150 combat missions but that pales in comparison to the troops that fought on the ground in combat. “All gave some, and some gave all”
