He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1966, assigned to HQ Air Force Security Service and volunteered to serve two tours in Vietnam, 1967 to 1969, as an intelligence intercept analyst. Later assigned to NSA, he was discharged in 1970. With the help of the GI Bill he earned his B. S. in Business Administration from King’s College in 1974 and then began a banking career of twenty-five years, nine of which as President and CEO. In 1983, after enlisting in the 402nd MP Camp, Army Reserves, CSM Hill earned additional specialties including: Military Police, Military Police Sr. Instructor, Logistics, Review and Audit, and Nuclear Biological and Chemical (NBC) downwind projection team commander. He was mobilized and deployed in 1991 to Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Storm. In 2005 Sergeant Major Hill was again mobilized and deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom as Operations Sergeant Major for the 377th Theater Support Command. He concluded his military career in 2007 after being deployed to Iraq by the Department of State as the Banking and Economics Advisor to the Anbar Province Provincial Reconstruction Team, Al Asad, Iraq.
