Born 1947, drafted/joined the navy 1965 honorably discharged 1969. Spent three tours of duty in Vietnam. Bootcamp San Diego. Worked for the Dept. of Defense at Elmendorf AFB Anchorage Alaska, 1986-2008. I was a Environmental Protection Specialist, GS-11. I was a regulatory expert in Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Dept. of Transportation (DoT) regulations.

Commissary CS-2
Was ordered from Bootcamp to USS Towhee AGS-28 a Geodetic survey ship. We charted/mapped the ocean floor. My designated job code was originally for a draftsman (DM). I came aboard as a seaman. I on my Bio I stated cooking as a hobby. Our ship had one of the Comissayman transferred and we one Comissayman short. The Executive Officer reading my Bio discovered my fondness for cooking and he decided/ordered me to fill that vacant position as a Comissayman.
We spent three extended tours aboard the USS Towhee surveying Vietnams coastal shoreline. We were as close as 100 yards from shore plotting it's depths and topography.
