Military Experiences

Jan 1990 - Jul 1993
Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET)
GERMANY AGAIN, When I got my orders in Tech school for Hahn, I jumped for joy! I was going back to Germany, only 80 miles from where I had grown up! My parents still were stationed at Ramstein, so it was like going home! I did love my time at Hahn as it was away from any major cities. The area was beautiful, I met great friends that I still keep up with in Germany. And I recently visited them in Germany with my wife. It was great showing her where I grew up. Now Hahn AB is no longer military but has been converted into a civilian airport. The remains of our once powerful base are barely left standing.

Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET)
Biomedical Equipment Repair school was long and tough. I went into the Air Force because I didn't really want to do the college thing. WOW, I completed 1682 hours of training in 9 months. BRAIN FRY! It was strange for me going off base during this time, i had spent most of my life overseas and this was a unique experience for me seeing Wichita Falls!
Feb 1989 - Mar 1989
Basic Trainee
High School JROTC made it possible for me to Proficiency Advance in Basic, 3 short weeks!
1980 - Feb 1989
Military Brat
Dad's new orders with DoDDS took us to Ramstein, I went 6th-12th grade and Graduated from Ramstein American High School, June 1988. 7 months later I was sworn in to the USAF by a Captain filling flight plans at Rhein Mein Air Operations control tower, around 10pm, missing paperwork sent me on a goose chase the day I was supposed to join! My time as a brat was really awesome. Trips through Europe in the summer, living off base, Flug Tag. Some scary moments, USAF headquarters bombing in 1981, Air Show disaster in 1988. Military families stay tough though. I wouldn't trade it for anything!
