After my tour of duty in Vietnam, I was assigned to the 3rd Armored Cavalry at Ft. Lewis, WA where I was ordered to command L Troop in the 3rd Squadron for a years until, at the insistence of my now ex-wife, I reluctantly resigned my commission, spending the majority of my civilian career in medical devices sales, marketing and product development. Civilian retired in 2016.

Armored Cavalry Troop Commander
After three weeks in Vietnam, I was ordered to take command of G Troop, 11 ACR which duty station I retained for 4 1/2 months. Next assigned as 2nd Squadron S-5, Civil Affairs Officer, where I worked with the Tan Binh village chief, running night patrols with his paramilitary defense soldiers with several encounters with the VC and enlisted a construction engineer platoon to build a two-room schoolhouse with the villagers. Awarded the Army Commendation Medal for this work.
