Served as the 81 Mortar Forward Observer, attached to Echo Company. Also did combat operations with the other three rifle companies in the Battalion as well (Fox, Golf, and Hotel). Our Combat Base was at An Hoa, 25 miles southwest of DaNang. Our hotspots were the Que Son Valley, Tam Ky, Antenna Valley, the Arizona Territory, Dodge City, and Charlie Ridge. In January 1968, our Battalion moved to Phi Bai. At first we thought we were going to Khe Sanh, but the 26th Marines ended up going instead.
