I was at Check Point Charlie on November 9, 1989 when Mr. Günter Schabowski announced that the borders were opened, inmediately. The inmediately was his mistake. I had to work overtime and I had a date. I wasn't too happy about it at the moment. However, with time I appreciated it. I earned an Army Achievement Medal because of that night.
