Bio
Joined Army at 17. Spent eight years active. Joined Reserves for five years. Got a divorce and custody of my two boys, 8 & 10 years old. It was family or Army and family won. Wanted to go back in a few years later when they were older, but my health wouldn’t let me. Ended up 100% disabled and now VA takes good care of me.

Signal Corps
Basic @ Ft Ord, CA. AIT @ Ft Gordon, GA
Then off to Ft Lewis, A Co, 41st Signal Bn as a switchboard installer/repairman/operator. Next was 999th Signal Company, Okinawa doing same thing. Re-enlisted in 1964 for Refrigeration-Air Conditioning School (6 year Re-up)

South Korea
Left Nam for Korea. Stationed with 516th Lt Mnt Co. at ASCOM (Bup Yong Don) where I took over as NCOIC of engineer shop where we repaired generators, air conditioners, refrigeration units and misc. equipment.

Vietnam War
Off loaded ship in Quinon, Vietnam and convoyed to Plieku where we started construction of bases for support troops. Transferred after 6 months to a maintenance unit and traveled all over II Corp, lower I Corp, & upper III Corps repairing refrigeration units and generators.

Japan
Stationed in Okinawa, a Machinato Depot repairing air conditioners. My old outfit from Ft Lee was in Buckner and had me transferred over. They were post engineers. Two weeks later we got our Vietnam indoctrination. Two weeks later we loaded up gear and equipment (and some equipment belonging to others

Stationed Hialeah compound, Pusan. Sent TDY Camp Humphrey’s six months. Reassigned 2nd Eng Gp, O-Sa-Ri outside of Kimpo.
