Grew up in Tillery, NC on a farm. Joined the Army 1965. Basic in Fort Jackson, SC. Aviation training Fort Rucker, Ala December 1965. Sent to VN Dec 1965 to Soc Trang. Rotated to Fort Hood, TX until Oct 1969. After 3 years in Fried Berg, Germany I returned to Fort Carson Co with a change from helicopter maint to chaplain assistant. Next assignment was to Korea in 1974 with return assignment to Fort Jackson, SC. In 1979 was assignment to the Chaplain School at Fort Monmouth, NJ.
