Bio

JF Whitaker is an author, recognized thought leader and respected business driver specializing in organizational development, change management and leadership development. His recent publication, a memoir called The Day Before I Died, is provocative and inspirational as it weaves the reader through the scars of war, disfigurement, sexual orientation, emotional abuse, bulling and being left behind. It is the story of an innocent Irish Catholic boy on his journey from the quiet New England coast through the apple trees of Pennsylvania to Vietnam and ultimately to the brink of suicide. The purpose of this book is to raise awareness and help lead the effort to create change for the treatment and prevention of suicide. Every 40 seconds someone in the US commits suicide. The concepts and experiences revealed in Joe’s memoir are also relevant for dealing with bullying. Define who and what you are and what you are not. Take your power back, engage with life and connect with like-minded people who love unconditionally. After a six-year Naval tour of duty, Joe started his corporate career working on the Space Shuttle Program and as a front-line supervisor for the production of flight control systems. His career took him through these frontline functions to employee relations and human resources. As part of a Leadership Development Team, Joe traveled throughout the US teaching a 40-hour course in the art of leadership. As a facilitator, trainer, and motivational speaker, Joe has influenced the interaction between management and their teams in a proactive and effective manner. His motivational and inspirational message has inspired change on a personal level as well as in the workplace. Joe’s future focus is sharing his story with students, veterans and those who have suffered trauma. The goal to protect from bullying, recover from trauma and choose to live is attainable.
