Data Processing Technician
I worked in a shop with civilians and HATED IT! Because they did shift work, the military personnel had to do shift work. They would not let us touch the computers which were IBM 360-50's. When I had to take my MOS test they gave me the test for the IBM 360-50 and NOT the Univac 1005 that was my primary MOS. I failed it miserably and was asked by my BN Commander why I failed the test. When I told him how I hated working in my shop he put me on status duty for the rest of my time in the Army!
Jun 1976 - Aug 1977
Chaplain Assistant
My wife was a 71M, Chaplain's Assistant and was going to get out to give birth to our 1st child. I had severed my left thumb and could not longer handle IBM cards safely. I OJT'd her job as a secondary MOS.
