I was an Specialist 5 before the Army changed us to Sergeant in the 1980's, I was asked by our 1SG how does it feel to be an NCO an I said I was an NCO even as SP/5, and it hacked him off. I don't think Specialist 5,6,7 etc existing any more. So I held 2 E-5 ranks, I thought that's kinda cool.
