Bio
Before I joined the Navy I wasn't doing much of anything. On a hot day in the summer I walked into the recruiters office and I enlisted as a submarinor. I picked subs because my recruiter was a submarinor and it paid 75 dollars more than anything else. I committed for four years. I got to see some of the world as I qualified for all the positions on the sub. It was required to do so.
Military Experiences
Nov 1988 - Sep 1992
Seaman apprentice
USS Memphis SSN 691 Sierra Class Fast Attack Submarine. Worked as a mess cook for 3 months before I joined the quarter master crew. I was a seaman apprentice when I joined. I qualified topside watch immediately. Then I became qualified helms and planesman. Within two weeks I was driving the sub. I started qualifying all duty stations as fast as I could. I made a few friends during my tour. Friends that I would be counting on with my life. We were all accountable to each other. It was a big size sub not the biggest but the fastest. It was a bittersweet feeling departing the subforce.
