Bio
Enlisted in the Navy to avoid the draft, got out after 4 years as an EM2. Enlisted in the Coast Guard in Feb 1977 as an EM2 and spent the next 22 years on 12 cutters. Miss the camaraderie of shipmates.
Military Experiences

After the sudden decom of CGC Tamaroa, talked the XO of MSO into accepting me as an overbillet until an upcoming retirement. Started in Port Ops, went to school and wrote facility contingency plans, inspected facilities in AOR. After TAD to CGC Vindicator, trained as investigator for unit overseeing the behavior of licensed and documented merchant mariners, taking them before a judge when necessary for drug use or negligence. Investigated pollution spills and marine accidents.

Chief Engineer
Given opportunity to select most past shipmates and take cutter from mothballs to operational for urgent AMIO deployment to Haiti in 1994. Had over 750 migrants on deck to shelter, feed and return, and provide sanitation services as well. Ignore the brown stripe on the aft starboard side. :) Every Naval Engineering warrant officer's dream job.
