National Guard Watch Officer

NGB/CC, HQDAF | Perterson AFC, CO

As the watch officer, I was a subject matter expert on the National Guard for the Command Staff and the Command Center Director at the US Northern Command Command Center. I detailed National guard activities of regional, National and International missions; maintained status reports, participated in national level conferences and exercises, and developed a syllabus for the transition of the desk from a military position to a civilian role.

Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF)

I was the primary mover for the operation from the S1 side in a unique operation. For the first time ever; Special Operations Command tasked a National Guard Battalion with augmenting an active duty Special Forces Group as their third Battalion for a combat deployment. Our Battalion is (was) spread out over five locations and two states.

hurricane Katrina

We deployed after leaving as the last aircraft out of Alexandria, LA on the night Katrina came in. The interstate compact was still years away, so a Governor to Governor agreement was required before we could come in. We went to Algiers on the West bank to help with law enforcement and protective services, but also to help people feel safe again.
