Fire Team Leader
The mission of the 822nd, while stateside was to train how to live in a hostile area including certain survival techniques, weapons training, vehicle training and advanced first aid. The training we received enabled us to apply our skills to the task at hand. Our missions while deployed included inner and outer perimeter security of the F.O.B., convoy security, IED sweeps, detainee transport, and training of local security forces. We were also tasked with providing private security in support of intelligence gathering.

Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF)
Responsible for:
Security of Iraqi detainee personnel in transit from Camp Bucca to Basra International Airport.
Outer perimeter security including IED sweeps, Morale Patrols, Detainee Escape Response, QRF.
Worked side by side with the U.S. Army's 103rd ID during transition.
Supported high profile intelligence gathering teams.

New Orleans, Louisiana
Went with the 822 SFS to New Orleans International Airport for emergency aid during the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Provided armed security for Air Force personnel and property in place at the airport. Assisted with triage and evacuation of displaced citizens affected by the hurricane and flooding there.
