Platoon Leader

C Co, 2nd BSTB, 2nd BCT, 3rd ID | Fort Campbell

I went straight to Ft Campbell Ky from Civilian and was assigned to the 3rd Platoon, C Company. I was assigned my platoon even though I was still a leg. In a few weeks, I was sent to Ft Benning Ga Airborne school. Profiled out because of asthma the end of 2nd week. Sent over to IOBC in next class. Finished IOBC and sent back to Ft Campbell Ky. Was transferred to 3rd Army Security Platoon as a Security officer travelling escorting classified shipments all over the world. Was promoted to 1st Lt while there. Left for Vietnam Sept 1966 headed to the Big Red One 1st Infantry Division.
