Army Brat from birth to age 19, when I entered the Navy. My father was a career infantryman in the ETO of WW2, and the Korean War, retired 1965. Having grown-up in the army, I chose something else for my military service.

Ops Weps | MCAS Miramar

Provide ordnance services to squadrons, at NAS Miramar before the Marines took over the base. Promoted to E-5 in 1967, from then on assigned as Range Safety Officer of the pistol range, and armory, qualifying Naval Aviators on the use of issued pistols. As permanent "ships company" at Miramar I was landlocked, despite repeated requests for duty in WES PAC.
