Management Consultant
HRM Consultant, Training Aids specialist and 1st LT Leading Chief, Admin Assist. over a period of 4 years you can do a lot of stuff. While at this command I also re-energized my college work obtaining both an AA and BBA. While at this command I experienced a heart attack which ended my career. I took a Temporary Disability Retirement in 1985 fulfilling 20 years of service. I remained on the TDRList for three more year before being medical boarded out into full retirement in 1988.

Leading Chief Gunners Mate
I worked for GMCM Bruen, and with FTGC Swafford in USS Berkeley for about a year before being transferred to shore duty. We had two 5"54 Mk 42 Mod 9 Gun mounts. Was a really good ship with lots of excellent talent.

1st Class Gunners Mate
Went aboard Somers as the 3M coordinator, also worked on MAA force. At the time I went aboard I was the third first class of two who were already aboard. There was a GMG1 Thomas who was the person I was relieving. The other, my sponsor GMM1 Ostertag. Dave and I would remain friends until now. We aren't physically close but we communicate through FaceBook. I remained the 3M Coordinator and LPO for the Gun Gang until I was promoted to Chief Petty Officer in 1977. At which time I became the LCPO for the Gunnery Department.
