I was deployed in support of the multinational Bright Star Exercise. My unit built a bare base from the ground up and tore it down at the completion of the exercises. Five days after arrival, 9/11 changed the world and our mission. I volunteered to serve as a Security Forces augmentee, helping to provide security for the base.
