Technical Sergeant Richard M. Brown is the Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of Military Justice, Headquarters 9th Air Force, Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina. Ninth Air Force comprises seven active-duty wings and two direct reporting units in the Eastern U.S. with more than 350 aircraft and 24,000 active-duty and civilian personnel. The command is also responsible for the operational readiness of 13 Air Reserve Component wings.
Sergeant Brown entered active duty as an Air Transportation Specialist in June 2000. In 2004, he was approved for retrain into the Paralegal career field. Since graduation from the Paralegal Apprentice Course, Sergeant Brown has gained experience in nearly all facets of the Wing Level Legal Office having been assigned in Europe, Asia and the United States. He also had the unique opportunity to become well versed in joint Military Justice (Army, Navy, Marines) as the sole paralegal assigned to support the Joint Analysis Center at RAF Molesworth, United Kingdom. Additionally, Sergeant Brown has served as a fill-in Defense Paralegal; NCOIC of a Base Honor Guard Team, and NCOIC of a Force Protection Unit. In March 2011, Sergeant Brown was appointed as a Volunteer Authorized Departure Unit Representative (VADUR) after an earthquake and subsequent tsunami struck mainland Japan. In this capacity, Sergeant Brown ensured the expedient departure of more than 50 family members in response to the nuclear crisis which followed the twin disasters.
