California Army National Guard
I was an enlisted aircraft mechanic for my first three years. I completed OCS at Ft Benning in 1966 (OCRC 2-66) and Officers Rotary Wing Aviators Course (ORWAC 70-6) in 1970. I was a graduate of the aircraft maintenance officer and UH-1 maintenance test pilot course and CGSC Class of 79. I was a 34 year full time NG employee of the Transportation Aircraft Repair Shop (TARS) before it’s conversation to the 1106th Aviation Classification Repair Shop (AVCRAD) and served as its’ commander 1993-1996. After completion of my time as commander I was reassigned to the position of Director of Army Aviation and Safety for the California National Guard until my retirement in October 1997. I was qualified in the OH-58A/C, UH-1A/B/C/D/H/M, EH-1X, AH-1G/P/F, CH-47A and U8F.
