Bio
I'm Micah Emerson, Born & raised in El Paso Texas with a little childhood time a few miles away in Las Cruces New Mexico. Joined the Army at 20 in 2006 then got medically retired at the end of 2013. I'm a father to three girls and now a stay at home father.
Military Experiences
Mar 2013 - Dec 2013
Medical patient
Once I recovered from 2 brain surgeries then spinal surgery and the Doctors deemed I'm too medically screwed up to continue service (My words, docs were nicer) I was moved to higher headquarters out of Guantanamo Bay (Officially) so that I can begin Med Board & Medical Retirement. While at ARSOUTH I did help with training within the Command and various office work for their Operational Protection Directorate, where the MP's worked at.
Jan 2012 - Mar 2013
Team Leader
Refer to my GTMO Deployment for the timing of actually being there. Best unit ever with the best job ever! Was an MP (Corrections) Team Leader. Guard for the Detainee Detention Center. Sad I left early due to the medical reasons. I would've gladly spent years here.
Oct 2010 - Jun 2011
Squad Leader
People in this unit was better, some senior leadership up to Brigade was still horrible (I know someone will complain about this too). First chance I had I Reenlisted and reclassed to MP to get out of the ADA world. Also got promoted to Sergeant here after being a Corporal for a while with near impossible to reach promotion point requirements for the time. Don't get me wrong, Just cause I disliked the ADA life I still did what I needed to do with Pride as an NCO (CPL/SGT).
Oct 2008 - Oct 2010
PATRIOT Launcher Crewmember
Not going to lie. Retention NCO at first unit tricked me into reclassing into this MOS. Hated it horribly after arrival and it seemed like most in the ADA field played favorites and politics over being a Soldier. It's like combat effectiveness and discipline meant nothing compared to how people looked. I'm sure someone from the ADA will be upset with this statement, I don't care. BN Commander was good though. Also racial bigotry was common but yeah like I said "favorites"... Left after getting the E4 Promotable status.
Deployments
(1 year, 4 months)Jan 2012 - Jun 2012
Guantanamo Bay, Cuba
Detainee Guard and Team Leader/NCO. Got sent stateside early after a stroke and the Naval Hospital finding a large cyst/lesion in my head that shouldn't be there.
