Platoon Leader
Great experience as a brand new platoon leader. My platoon sergeant and squad leaders were outstanding, Company CO and First Sergeant were leaders from whom I learned a great deal. Best preparation for me prior to transfer to Vietnam.
Did a lot of platoon and company tactical training, and participated in obe Division training exercise.
Spent three months on the DMZ where I saw my first real combat.
Started badgering the Battalion CO for that transfer early and often. Finally wore him down!
