Born and raised in Oklahoma. Got my first job at 12 bussing tables at a family owned café. Graduated high school in 1974. Went to college in 1975 for a semester... Started civilian flight school in 1976 culminating in a private pilots license in 1978. Started volunteering with the United States Air Force Auxiliary (Civil Air Patrol) in 1984 until I entered the military in 1986.

Adjusted and fitted flight helmets (HGU 56P) to unit aviators. Maintained survival vests with current first aid items and pin flares. Inspected and repaired aircraft first aid kits. Inspected aircraft seasonal survival kits. Inspected and made minor repairs IAW ALSE regulations of flight suits.
