Bio

Born in the rust-belt factory town of Toledo, Ohio where the Jeep is made. Grew up in Texas, Oklahoma and Ohio, then joined the Navy a year out of high school and was stationed in Japan and got to experience all of the Far East and Southeast Asia along with the Middle East and the Red Sea while on deployments. Now reside in Hawaii and call Honolulu my new home. Aloha!

Military Experiences

Sep 2007 - Mar 2009
USS Dubuque (LPD-8)
Culinary Specialist (CS)1st Class
My last ship! did one more Westpac and bid farewell to the Navy after 20 years and 3 months. Retired almost where I had started in 1988. Not too far away is the old RTC/NTC boot-camp base which has now become an upscale and swanky shopping center with half million dollar town homes in Point Loma. All my favorite watering holes(dive bars) are now gone! Fair Winds and Following Seas, felt good getting piped ashore one last time and they even gave me a few bells!!
Oct 2004 - Aug 2007
Culinary Specialist (CS)1st Class
My last shore-duty of my career, got to deploy also as an IA Individual Augmented as to get a deployment mid way through this assignment, got into real estate investing in this area and planned on doing this quite often after retiring 2 years later. Did not desire to advance to CPO so I just stopped taking the exam after 2006 CPO selection board season. Realized there is a great big world out there for me and knew it was time to transition over to CIV-1.
Oct 2001 - Sep 2004
ACU 1
Mess Specialist 1st Class
Repeat sea duty tour but realized I should have just went on to another shore duty in the rotation during a naval career, got my Aviation Warfare Qualification while embarked on USS Essex LHD-2. For me it was a very bad duty station as well, got burned out very quickly, had some of the worst people to be stationed with and this unit sealed my fate, was looking forward to just moving on to hopefully never run into any of those fellas again and do my 20 years. Yeah it was a polished turd of a command and this is not towards those who were real shipmates and became lifelong friends. Too many people were burning bridges instead of building new ones.
Jul 1997 - Sep 2001
USS Cushing (DD-985)
Mess Specialist 2nd Class
My longest tour but rewarding at the same time, earned my ESWS qualification and extended for an additional year to help out the division which was undermanned, left that ship with more confidence and optimism which I volunteered for a back to back sea duty in the wake of the 9/11 terror attacks.
