Enlisted for the draft in 1970 when my draft number came up for March of 1971, so I joined. My Dad was in the Army in Okinawa. Born in Wisconsin from a small rural town. Lived on and been near Farms all my life. Honorable discharge. Worked many years for General Telephone Co. In 1993 I got my Federal Firearms License. I have a concealed carry permit for Wisconsin. Got married and have two children.

Mail Clerk

3rd Bn 17th Arty HQ Btry | Merrill Barracks, Nuremburg Germany

Pick up mail at Division HQ across Nuremburg. Sort mail by Battery. HQ/Service/A/B/C. For mail calls by Bn Clerks. During Christmas I had to make two runs a day. While rest of Battalion had only a half day. Also when Battalion was in the field I had to drive the mail daily 70 miles. from Nuremburg to Grafenwuhr.

I was called up on reserve active standby for two weeks with a self propelled 155 Howitzer Unit from Chippewa Falls Wis. Drank Beer.

Attached to 3rd Bn 17th Arty HQ Btry, With 8in Self Propelled Howitzers. Surveyed gun positions and fed target information to fire direction control. Also called fire for fire missions. Did recon in the country side for known survey points of reference. In case the SHTF. Did vehicle, and equipment, maintenance. Guard and Post duty.
