Bio
I enlisted in the USNR and was sworn in on my 17th birthday, a HS Jr. I went to a couple of months of weekend drills then to Submarine School (SG) at Hunters Point. I received an appointment to the Naval Academy the next year but left in my junior year when my marriage was discovered. I went back to my Sub Div, but transferred to USAF (Res) for AFROTC. I was finally discharged 1967.
Military Experiences
Started in May 1946
Navy Dependent
My Dad was a career mustang Naval Officer so I grew up in Japan, Saipan, and many US states. I spent most of 3 years at the Naval Academy. When on cruise, I took abbreviated flight training at Pensacola, beachhead landings with Maines in Little Creek, firefighting school somewhere. I left USNA in 1962 when I had to reveal I was married and they tossed me out. I am a Life Member of the USNA Alumni Association as well as an Associate member of the Liberty Veterans Association. I lost many classmates in Vietnam whom I think of often. (I did not go.). I have been an engineering consultant for DoD for the last 25 years and have travelled to Africa, Thailand, Japan, Puerto Rico and other places.
