Corporal / Non-Commissioned Officer
Extremely fortunate Active-Duty Marine assigned to I & I (Inspector & Instructor) Duty in Atlanta, GA to a reserve squadron VMFA-142, dubbed, "The Flying Gators", under MAG-42, 4th MAW (Unit currently decommissioned). Transferred and served as Base Armed Security Patrolman (USMC Security Forces); following the September 11th, 2001 terrorists attacks. I was subsequently awarded the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal (NAM) by Base CO / SECNAV, for directly contributing to the enhancement of Base Security Operations during and after these unprecedented attacks.
Dec 1997 - Jun 1999
Indirect Fire Infantryman
My initial military experience was my enlistment into the SC Army National Guard, where my primary MOS was an 11C-Indirect Fire Infantryman (Mortarman). Yeah, a Base-Plate sucks, lol. I was assigned to 1-263rd Armor Regiment. However, after some time and reflection, I came to the conclusion that I truly wanted to become an Active-Duty United States Marine. While extremely daunting, I was able to eventually convince what was my current BN CO to sign a "Release-Form for an Inter-service Transfer" for Active-Duty USMC. The rest they say "is History".
