SECDEF LIASON OFFICER TO DODIG

SECDEF, OSD | Pentagon, VA

The SECDEF LO to the DODIG for Dick Cheney, Les Aspin, Bill Perry and Bill Cohen. I was authorized to inspect and investigate any one, unit, department, agency, command - without prior warning, and report directly back to SECDEF with recommendation for immediate action and never in staff coordination through the JCS Chain of Command.. Its a job that does not create friendships - and I never dealt in anything that was good news. I had only one boss - the Secretary of Defense. I learned a lot, and was asked - and continue to be reminded to not write a book.
