Military Experiences
Aug 1989 - Jul 1991
Computer Programmer-Analyst
Receive data transmission spools of magnetic tapes and re-record them onto back up files on separate spools of tape, report to perform detail services for different units in the Support Squadron, analyze the operation and primary immediate action maintenance required of field generators and compose and write an operations manual for deployments to support the Regimental Data Center in remote back country. Was sent to interview with M.D.s at the Emergency Room at Wm. Beaumont Army Med. Ctr. and a few months later was Honorably Discharged on Disability Retirement and still stuck in that rut.
May 1989 - Jul 1989
Recruit
Physical fitness training, infantry skills, marksmanship, how to wear the uniform, how to treat and protect against dehydration and heat injuries.
Jan 1989 - May 1989
Fire Support Team Specialist
Went to Fort Knox in the field in a Vietnam era aluminum personnel carrier, took an order to sketch the battle field as I saw it from the Observation Point and did the best I could that brought compliments from all the officers, and afterward helped wash mud off the personnel carrier, and on another occasion went to Fort Knox into a classroom with a large video screen of a large tract of land, maybe several small farms and a map and map reading tool to plot target coordinates and watched others report their coordinates and adjust fire, but when I had my turn there was no requirement to adjust because I would have destroyed the target with one round.
Aug 1988 - Dec 1988
Fire Support Team Specialist
Re-qualified with the M-16, became acquainted with field radios and data transmission equipment, went to Fort Polk into a classroom with a large video screen of a large tract of land, maybe several small farms and a map and map reading tool to plot target coordinates and watched others report their coordinates and adjust fire, but when I had my turn there was no requirement to adjust because I would have destroyed the target with one round.
