We have 2 kids. Both under her since she's higher ranking. Her biological son will go with his biological father in Virginia when we leave and our daughter will stay with my family here in Texas when we leave. She will be supporting her son when he leaves to Virginia and I will be supporting our daughter and my side of the family to help pay for expenses when we leave.

Your entitlement should not change from what you are currently authorized. BAH entitlement is based on where you are stationed, not where your family is residing. You are both only entitled to full BAH if you are not stationed together. On the plus side you should receive Family Separation Pay so that should help to defer some of the added cost.

Right so she receives full and I receive partial and it's based out of our duty station fort hood.that I understand. So would we still both receive our bah including sep pay for the 9 months?

SPC (Join to see) Yes, that does not change when you deploy. You are still entitled to your BAH for the location that you are permanently stationed.

I wished I could have "deployed" to Germany.

IDK Major, I "deployed" to Germany (FRG) 3 times in my time in service for a total of a little over ten years. Thankfully I really liked it there. My Father who was also active while I was in, always went to the Orient, while I always went to Europe. I always complained that he got the assignment folks to switch us around. He did 1 year in Europe (an accompanied PCS), we didn't even get out of Temp Housing before he came down on orders for Viet Nam. I always felt the Army was a little more "real" overseas than in CONUS, if nothing else, you could go to the border and look across at a real live enemy. Not something you can do in the States. Anyway, yeah, deployments. . .

First what do you mean by deploy to Germany, it is not a deployment. You are either PCSing or going over for some type of operation. Once you identify that select the response that fits.

If you are going on a rotation and are currently authorized housing etc. that should not change. SPC (Join to see)

CSM Darieus ZaGara ok so why would we get housing ? Our kids are staying behind with family and from my understanding we would be in barracks just like everyone else. Except in Germany there open bays. 10 ppl per bay I believe.

I did not say you would get housing. If you have dependant you get to retain BAH. If you do not both have defendants, then only the one with them will retain. You should be briefed the rules at your pre rotation brief. SPC (Join to see)
